Hay nets and slowfeeders

In this category you will find our wide range of hay nets and slowfeeders for horses and ponies.

What exactly is a hay net and what is it for?

Hay nets are made of various materials and are meant to feed hay to the horse. By using a hay net the hay does not have to be thrown on the ground which saves on waste. In addition, with a hay net you are able to determine the portions better and weigh them if necessary.

What types of hay nets are there?

Hay nets come in different varieties, namely:

- Standard hay net, available in various sizes and mesh densities
- Haybag
- Slowfeeder
- Hayplay (hay ball filled with hay)

More information about hay nets

The standard hay net comes in various sizes and is usually made of nylon. The smaller the mesh size, the more the hay net is in principle a slowfeeder. With a smaller mesh size it will take more effort for the horse to get the hay out of the net so it will eat slower and therefore take longer with its ration.

The hay bag is a type of hay bag with a hole through which the horse can eat the hay. In addition, the use of a hay bag can also be safer because the horse cannot easily get stuck with its hoof or shoe, a risk that is present when the traditional hay net or slowfeeder hangs too low to the ground in the stable.

The slowfeeder is often a somewhat larger net which fits for a longer period of time, the mesh size is small so the horse eats more slowly and therefore uses its hay longer.
